ACflex Induced AC Mitigation Electrode by Farwest Corrosion

ACflex is a high-performance AC mitigation system designed with a copper grounding ribbon electrode. The AC mitigation system offers mitigation of stray current caused by HVAC transmission lines that are collocated with pipelines. Pipeline corrosion, caused by induced AC, can be extremely aggressive, far exceeding the normal corrosion rate caused by corrosive soils. In addition, induced AC current can also be a safety issue to humans and must be effectively mitigated to reduce potential hazards. AC mitigation systems are simply electrical “grounding” systems that provide an effective electrical path to remove or discharge AC current from a pipeline to ground. ACflex is a factory-assembled solution that eliminates the need for field assembly. It is designed to be installed parallel to the pipeline for efficient and reliable protection. ACflex includes backfill material to ensure long-term performance. To protect the product during installation, a synthetic jacket and protective braiding are utilized for challenging installation methods such as trenching, plowing or horizontal directional drilling. The ACflex mitigation assembly is 1.5” diameter and supplied on wooden reels. Four conductor sizes are available to meet the needs of the project and copper pigtails are included for easy field splices.
